Our passion here at TrugShop is creating beautiful pieces that challenge our creativity and this one certainly did that!

It’s what gets us excited; the crazier the better! We were approached by a customer and asked if we could build an “ornate wishing well”, so after a quick look online and seeing what others had done it was a no brainier, yes some of them looked okay but just okay doesn’t cut it with us!

Not only will we build you one, we will build you the best wishing well you have ever seen! And that’s what we did!

Everything on this beautiful item was hand crafted, from the mechanism for raising and lowering the bucket to the bucket itself!

With two of us working long days over a weekend and a few hours through the week this is what we came up with!

Our brief was “I want it BIG, beautiful and it’s got to hold water”, well (no pun intended) we certainly hit that brief……and some!

Woodworking is our passion and engineering is our background so to combine the two was fantastic, every part of the build from working out the angles to designing simple mechanisms that worked, and even working out structural elements all involved in depth conversations, pencil drawings and equations on scraps of paper, and lots of coffee. You could say it’s the most over engineered wishing well around (and you’re probably right).

From the start of this build it was always going to be a WOW project, and we couldn’t be happier with the outcome, the amazing comments on social media and the smile on our customers face when he saw it, that’s what makes it all worth it! Plus the fact we absolutely loved and enjoyed every aspect of the design and build process.

All the materials used are locally sourced, we use FSC certified treated timber, and we buy all of our materials from local suppliers.

Supporting local businesses is very important to us, and when you have a good relationship with local suppliers you know you will be getting the best quality materials for your projects!
